Chase rate is another one of these "newer" stats that teams have begun using. Whereas exit velocity and spin-rate are being used to keep track of a team's own players' progress, chase rate tends to be more useful when scouting your opposing team's hitters so that your pitchers know how to attack them. Using 2018 data from both Fangraphs and Baseball-Savant, Josh and Corwin go ahead and compare players' chase rates to their out-of-their-zone batting average to see which hitters swing outside the most, and which batters have the most success when they do it!
